What is BHRT?

BHRT stands for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.  These are hormones that are chemically identical to the ones your body naturally makes such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA.  They can be prescribed as creams and capsules and are optimized to match your individual hormone levels and symptoms.  The goal is to help your body return to optimal balance and relieve symptoms related to hormone decline.​

What is menopause and perimenopause?​

Perimenopause is a transition phase before menopause.  It can last several years often beginning before the age of 40 in which hormone levels fluctuate and symptoms may come and go. Menopause is defined as 12 months without a menstrual period.  At this stage the ovaries produce very low levels of estrogen and progesterone which can cause a range of symptoms.
